Activity measurement

We use first-party activity measurements to improve book discovery: pages viewed, the previous page, referring website, broad screen-size category, search result counts, recommendation loading times, bookmarks added or removed, shares, and clicks to Amazon or Kindle. We also measure page load speed and count errors.

These records stay in our Cloudflare database for up to 90 days, with hourly cleanup. They do not include search text, page contents, bookmark collections, IP addresses, full referring URLs, or error messages. Measurement does not use cookies, fingerprinting, session recordings, or identifiers that follow you between visits. A random page identifier only groups actions within a single page view.

You can turn off activity measurement for this browser. We also honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.

Browser storage and recommendations

Your saved bookmarks, discovery trails, sound preferences, and privacy preference are stored in your browser. Clearing browser storage removes those local settings. The site uses an anonymous session cookie and hashed abuse-control identifiers to limit recommendation requests; activity measurement does not read or join those identifiers.

Book searches and recommendation requests are processed by our site and, when needed, Open Library and OpenAI. Generated recommendations and public book metadata are cached for reuse. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes network requests to deliver and protect it.

External links

Amazon, Kindle, and Open Library links open services with their own privacy practices. Amazon links may contain our affiliate tag. We record an outbound click, not whether you buy a book.
